What is a Backup MX
A Backup MX or Backup Mail Exchanger is neat way to add some redundancy into your business email system.
If you business or organisation has it's own mail server on site, you are reliant on the internet connection at that site to keep the business email system running.
A Backup MX is basically a server which will store your business email in the event that your primary mail server is offline. As soon as the primary mail server become available the Backup MX then delivers all the mail to the main mail server.
A Backup MX does not enable you to send emails, it simply stores your business email until your mail server is available, and therefore presents a consistent service to your clients and suppliers. As a business you definitely do not want your clients to have problems contacting you by email.
